Please provide a summary of your business, who you serve and how you serve them
The Uncommon Woman is an empowerment platform that provides communities, events, programs, and initiatives that serve and support women who know they are ready for more no matter where they are in their personal or professional journey. The Uncommon Woman platform supports women as they build the courage and confidence to heal their lives, speak their truth, and share their stories with the world as powerful women of impact and change. In my Rosegold Leadership spaces I provide luxury private mentorship and group training to professionals and women business owners who desire to lead their businesses and their teams in a way that serves the vision they have for their legacy and their lives.
What were key elements of your personal and professional journey that lead you to where you are today?
In 2012 I left a toxic relationship feeling incredibly alone and confused in my experience. At the same time I was building a brand new business from the ground up. I had no clue what I was doing. I just had passion, conviction and unrelenting courage which I have come to realize is more useful than either of my two university degrees. Although my family and my friends were an incredible support system, I craved a community of women who understood what I was going through and could help me through what felt like an impossible journey. I made it, but I now see that surrounded by the right people nothing is as hard. In 2015, after spending 3 years building my gym which ultimately became a community for women much like the one I wished I had, I closed the doors to become a life coach. I knew I wanted to serve women in a more spiritual and soulful way. A year later I founded The Uncommon Woman. Today The Uncommon Woman has grown to a global empowerment platform of approximately 25K women. More recently I have extended my reach to support women in business who desire to live lives of wealth, freedom, health, joy and impact through my Rosegold Executive Leadership programs. I simply continue to follow my path while turning around to share what I have learned each step of the way with other women. I feel both grateful and blessed to know that I have answered my life's calling.
What motivates you the most to keep going?
The women in my community and those who I have yet to serve are what get me out of bed and out of my head. Like most of us there have been times when I questioned whether the work I am doing is REALLY making a difference. Then I will read a message, meet with a client or drop into my Facebook community and I am reminded that for many our relationship is a lifeline for their business health or their mental health, or both. Every ounce of doubt dissipates.
What is one important lesson that entrepreneurship has taught you that has impacted you the most?
There is no limit to what you can create and who you can become.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years? What do you still have left to accomplish?
I see myself doing the work I do today but on a much larger scale, supporting women who are creating change in the world in the way only they can and are called to do. The Uncommon Woman and The B & W Gallery will be on global stages and in galleries around the world. I continue to move toward the goal of women from countries around the globe having an opportunity to share their stories and be seen and heard in the way they deserve and desire on TUW platforms. As well I plan to continue growing initiatives and funds that support women and children in need. A hope to build a series of schools in 3rd world countries with residences for women and children to live as they acquire an education . Education changes and saves lives, and that is the ultimate goal of The Uncommon Woman.
Why did you join The Elleiance Network, why do you think it is important to have a support network and what do you love most about being a part of Elleiance?
I love to be surrounded by amazing community and women who are doing great things!
Notes from Erin
I am honoured to share the story about how I was able to get this incredible woman in my life. LinkedIN! If you know me at all, you know how much I love LinkedIN and how much it has changed my life (more on this in another article). I had been following Romy for sometime, admiring her courage, her message and her leadership. To be honest, at that stage in my life, she seemed out of my league, I was having a lot of imposter syndrome about reaching out and meeting her. But one day, I built my courage and sent her a LinkedIN message and she answered! Since that initial connection we have gone on to do many exciting things in business together and have built a beautiful friendship. I am so grateful to have Romy in my circle of supporters. I highly suggest you follow this visionary woman if you are not already.
