Should I become a business coach?
In 2021, I embarked on an 11-month coaching program with the Institute of Coaching Mastery (ICM), and it turned out to be the most transformative experience of my personal and professional life. This journey wasn’t just about gaining new skills—it was about understanding myself on a much deeper level and learning how to use that understanding to serve others with power and purpose.
Through this program, I was able to break free from old patterns, gain awareness of my mindset, and learn to identify and overcome my blocks and triggers. I also developed a deeper understanding of body somatics—how our physical responses give us insight into our emotions and thought patterns—and how to work through those signals effectively.
But more than that, it helped me add a new, aligned revenue stream to my business: coaching.
If you’ve ever found yourself wondering, “Should I become a business coach?” my response is an enthusiastic yes! Here’s why:
1. Coaching Increases Success Rates
One of the most compelling reasons to consider becoming a coach is that coaching works. According to a well-known study from the American Society of Training & Development, people are 95% more likely to reach their goals if they have someone holding them accountable. Coaches provide that accountability, which is why so many business leaders and entrepreneurs swear by it.
2. Coaching Unlocks Possibilities You Didn’t Know Existed
Sometimes, it takes an outside perspective to help you see what’s possible. A great coach can ask one key question or make one simple observation that completely shifts your perspective—and suddenly, opportunities that were once invisible come into view.
3. Coaching Helps You Get Out of Your Own Way
As entrepreneurs, we’re all experts at getting in our own way. We overthink, procrastinate, and let fear take over. A skilled coach helps you move past these barriers, offering both encouragement and tough love when needed. They’ll call out your excuses and guide you toward solutions.
Should You Become a Business Coach?
Ask yourself these questions:
Are you earning as much as you want to?
Is your schedule exactly how you’d like it to be?
Do you feel confident, powerful, and unstoppable?
Are you enjoying your work and feeling appreciated by clients or colleagues?
Is your business hitting seven-figure revenue?
Do you have a million-dollar net worth?
If your answer to any of these is no, becoming a coach (or getting coached yourself) could be the game-changing move you’ve been looking for.
