Please provide a summary of your business, who you serve and how you serve them

Our Kids Count is a not-for-profit charity organization that supports families in the community. We provide a variety of programs for children, youth and families such as: Big Brother's Big Sister's Program, Licensed Private Home Child Care Program, Roots of Empathy Program, Food Security Programs, Workshops, Pre/Post Natal Support Programs, Parenting Support and so much more! We're located in four family resource hubs, one on Windsor St., Academy Heights, McKenzie St. and one in Westfort.

What were key elements of your personal and professional journey that lead you to where you are today?

My first passion has always been working with and supporting young children and families. Throughout my career I have taken on many roles, Early Childhood Educator, Special Needs Coordinator, Family Resource Manager, Supervisor Intensive Behavioural Intervention and now Executive Director of Our Kids Count.

What motivates you the most to keep going?

Working with children and families in the community is always rewarding. I love to set goals and work hard to see them become a reality. I believe everyone should have access to quality programs and receive the support they need when they need it. I feel pride when I advocate to support families and especially when my voice is heard and change happens. Leading a team and seeing others succeed as a result of my coaching and leadership is so empowering. The Elleiance Network has been a wonderful opportunity; meeting other women leading teams and building businesses has been extremely motivating!

What is one important lesson that entrepreneurship has taught you that has impacted you the most?

Relationships are the key to success! You don't have to work alone, in fact the more you partner and connect the more opportunities will present themselves.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?  What do you still have left to accomplish?

In 10 years I see myself continuing to make an impact in the early learning field, supporting families and leading a team. I have many goals still to achieve, some are in the works and some will come....one step at a time!

Why did you join The Elleiance Network, why do you think it is important to have a support network and what do you love most about being a part of Elleiance?

I joined The Elleiance Network to meet more women leaders in the community. I knew many people in the network, they had amazing things to say and they encouraged me to reach out to Erin. After a brief meeting with Erin, I knew this group was accomplishing amazing things and I wanted to be a part of it! I love meeting new people, learning from each other and being there to offer support and encouragement.
